We met at the dog park, of course! I was pet sitting a fluffy problem child for seven months when I met this friendly man with two cattle dogs who obeyed his voice commands. He told me his dogs were “balanced” and my furry problem child would be fine off-leash with them, and to my amazement, she was!
I was also in a transitional point in my life, having experienced a period of crippling depression years earlier which led me to question everything and re-evaluate my life. I had been searching for something meaningful to do with my life for the past 12 years, without success. I met my forever best friend thanks to a fluffy little white dog, and we have been together ever since.
In the summer of 2016 we were in the process of transitioning JD from working in the trees as an Arborist to something safer on the ground, such as dog training. A "chance encounter" with a veteran and many conversations led us to do research wherein we discovered a need in our little corner of Ohio. JD got to work putting his philosophies down on paper and writing a training program.
Now I get to handle all the paperwork and logistics, public relations, marketing, fundraising, puppy whelping and raising, some basic training, training assistant, yard cleanup, social media, and some communications.
I can address the experience of dating a person with a bonded Service Dog. I had no dog when we met, and now I have an abundance!
